HSMP HSMP
HSMP The UK Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) is now known as Point Base system (Tier 1) with effect from 1st April 2008.

It is an excellent opportunity for people who are willing to work in UK & intend to settle in UK. The HSMP ( PBS Tier 1) programme allows you the flexibility to be an employee or be self-employed. There are other Western countries that have skilled migration based on a points test. Other countries will normally grant you permanent residence after a processing time of a year or longer. The UK HSMP visa is granted within a few weeks and will normally lead to permanent residence at the end of five years.

Eligibility for HSMP / PBS ( Tier 1) visas is assessed on a point based system. You need to obtain a minimum of 95 points from the following scoring areas.

Educational qualifications

HSMP differs from the work permit scheme as it does not require an employer to obtain a permit for the individual. It is also different from the existing business routes (e.g. the Innovators scheme or other business categories), in that it does not require a detailed business plan or investment in the UK.

Age Assessment – Max 20 points
You will gain these points if you are still under 31 years of age the day the application under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme is received:

Under 28 years of age: 20 points

Between 28 & 29 Years of age: 10 points
Between 30 & 31 Years of age : 05 points
Above 31 years - No Bonus Points ( It does not mean that you are not eligible)

Past Earnings - 45 points (maximum)
You will gain points depending on your income in your country of residence in the last 12 months. In order to reflect differences in income level across the world the level required to qualify varies depending on where the applicant lives. In addition earnings that have not been declared to the appropriate authorities will not be accepted when calculating income. The income levels required for some of the countries are as follows:
